Why Install Electric Fence?

Deciding which type of agriculture fence to use on your property can be a challenge. With so many different deer management techniques, and types of  deer fences on today's market, homeowners are posing the question 'Why install an electric fence?' There are many reasons for choosing an electric fence for deer control. 

For starters, electric fence are less obtrusive on landscape. With seamlessly thin electric wires, this type of deer fence appears virtually invisible - quite different than chain-link fences which are an eyesore (and when they corrode - yuck!). We, as homeowners, don't have to worry about corrosion with electric fencing; but we will need to check with fire bans in the area from time-to-time. 

Secondly, electric fencing costs less than traditional fences. Linear foot-to-foot of coverage is cheaper than any other fence material.

Solar chargers range in price depending on how many miles or acres the charger will power. Electric fencing usually costs anywhere from $0.10 to $0.20 per foot - far less than conventional fencing.

Electric fences aren't as labor-intensive as traditional deer fences. They're easy to install and can be done without the help from professional installers. Electric fencing is an easy DIY project for novice gardeners looking for a fast solution for keeping out deer in gardens. 

There are other advantages to electric fencing such as safety reasons. Unlike barbed wire or wooden fences that will physically harm wild animals that come in contact with the fence, electric fences will only cause psychological changes and will train animals to avoid the fence. 

Lastly, electric fencing is effective for keeping out all types of wildlife including: deer, skunks, groundhogs, rabbits and other garden pests. Note: Birds cannot get shocked by an electric fence. All animals must be grounded prior to receiving the shock. But, livestock owners raising cattle, chickens, goats, sheep and other animals will benefit from having electric fencing on pastures.
